THE CHALLENGE
During the 2022 Florida Legislative Session, Advocus worked with Chairman Bryan Avila to ensure the passage of CS/CS/HB 1411 – Floating Solar Facilities, which requires floating solar facility to be permitted use in certain land use categories, directly tying into CEMEX’s goals of powering plants with solar energy.
THE SOLUTION
During the 2021, 2022 and 2023 legislative Sessions, Advocus defeated harmful legislation related to Construction Materials Mining Activities. The bill specified ground vibration limits for construction materials mining activities within 1 mile of certain areas and authorized the CFO to direct the State Fire Marshal to modify standards, limits, and regulations for the use of explosives used in such construction materials mining activities.
